Real-time aerosol data from our fully-equipped instruments

AeroExplorer Sampling System

The AirPhoton AeroExplorer System measures aerosols in real-time using a 3 wavelength integrating Nephelometer as well as collecting and preserving the aerosols themselves for later analysis using one of our filter stations. Aerosols sizes for sampling in either device can be selected using either standard inlets or cyclone inlets for a more sharply defined size cutoff. The aerosols collected for later analysis are preserved within a cartridge assembly. The cartridge can be configured to collect all samples on a single filter or to use a two stage filter which further divides the particles into fine and coarse size ranges. The cartridge is mailed intact for analysis virtually eliminating contamination issues.

Our unique design provides:

  • Compact and robust design allowing field deployment without the need for specialized environmental chambers.
  • AC, Battery or Solar Power capabilities
  • Easy and contamination free sample collection

Our instruments have been successfully deployed around the globe in a variety of extreme environments by the SPARTAN  network. SPARTAN uses the AeroExplorer System to determine both aerosol speciation and PM2.5 concentrations. You can find more detailed information on the SPARTAN – AirPhoton partnership and the data being produced by SPARTAN in the AirPhoton and SPARTAN Equipment presentation

Filter Cartridge Model FC10

The AirPhoton 8-slot filter cartridge is a unique design that holds and protects 8 particle sampling filters. This design minimizes the handling of the filters in the field and reduces the frequency of site visits by technicians. Used in conjunction with the AirPhoton Automated Filter Sampling Station, the cartridge can be deployed through 8 sampling cycles (one of which can be a blank for reference) before exchange with a fresh cartridge is necessary. Each of the 8 slots can hold either 1 filter for straightforward measurements of particles of one size, or 2 sequential filters of different pore sizes for separation of particles by size.

When used with the dual inlet system and control box each inlet can be used separately for four sampling cycles. One filter location for each flow can be used as a reference blank.
