The 22nd International Workshop on Greenhouse Gas Measurements from Space (IWGGMS 2026) is an international forum dedicated to satellite observations of greenhouse gases, bringing together researchers, space agencies and operational organisations to present and discuss recent developments in greenhouse gas measurements, retrieval algorithms and Earth observation missions. Its 22nd edition took place in Bonn, Germany, from 29 June to 2 July 2026.
As part of Session 3 – Retrieval algorithms, priors, and products, GRASP Earth researcher Wushao Lin presented his latest work “Combined retrieval of XCO₂, XCH₄ and aerosol properties from SWIR spectrometric and multi-angle polarimetric measurements with the GRASP algorithm.”
The presented work investigates the simultaneous retrieval of atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO₂), methane (CH₄) and aerosol properties by combining shortwave infrared (SWIR) spectrometric observations with multi-angle polarimetric measurements within the GRASP retrieval framework. The work is part of the OPERA-S5 project, which aims to develop an open-source retrieval framework based on the GRASP algorithm for the combined retrieval of greenhouse gases, aerosols and surface properties from Sentinel-5 measurements and their synergy with the 3MI polarimeter.
