The ACTRIS National Facility at the University of Warsaw hosted a GRASP and Lidar hands-on training session last week for 23 Polish scientists from ARS-ACTRIS Poland. Led by Professor Iwona S. Stachlewska, the event was linked to the AEROPAN and POLIMOS projects and focused on the integration of the GRASP algorithm into ground-based lidar systems. This included water lidar technology from LIFeLiDAR SAS and the ESA cal/val reference Mie-Raman Lidar (EMORAL).
Theoretical introductions were led by GRASP Earth fellows Anton Lopatin, Masahiro Momoi, Milagros Herrera, Juan Carlos Antuña-Sánchez, and Marie Stockhardt from the Medical University of Innsbruck. These sessions were followed by 1.5 days of hands-on GRASP applications and parallel lidar training conducted by Lucja Janicka. The training emphasized the application of these algorithms and the use of specific lidar reference systems for atmospheric monitoring.
With the ACTRIS meeting in Oslo scheduled for 20-24 April 2026, these sessions provide a basis for connecting with the community and finding new collaboration synergies. We look forward to discussing these current and future developments with the rest of the scientific ACTRIS cohort.
