GRASP participated in the first workshop of Working Group 4 (WG4) of the HARMONIA COST Action, held on 8 October 2025 at the PMOD/WRC facilities in Davos, Switzerland. The workshop brought together researchers and representatives from industry to discuss current challenges and future developments in aerosol measurements and retrievals.
Representing GRASP Earth, Dr Masahiro Momoi and Dr Juan Carlos Antuña contributed to discussions on strengthening collaboration between the scientific community and instrument and software developers. The workshop addressed topics including:
• synergies between complementary measurement techniques
• standardisation across observation networks
• the development of value-added aerosol products, and;
• the improvement of retrieval methodologies through advances in instrumentation and algorithms.
Working Group 4 brings together researchers, instrument manufacturers, and software developers to identify opportunities for improving aerosol measurements and retrievals through technological development, standardisation, and collaboration. The group also seeks to identify priorities for future developments in instrumentation, software, and retrieval algorithms based on scientific and end-user requirements.
