In the March 24, 2025 episode of Tech & Co – La Quotidienne on BFM Business, our co-founder Dr. Oleg Dubovik spoke about the company’s evolution and its contributions to atmospheric science and satellite data processing.

“We started from a purely scientific background,” Dubovik explained, referring to the company’s roots at the Laboratoire d’Optique Atmosphérique (LOA) in Lille. “The GRASP algorithm was initially developed for research, but over time we saw the potential to make it operational and accessible for broader applications.”

During the interview, Dubovik outlined how GRASP processes satellite and ground-based observations to extract information about aerosols, clouds, and surface properties. The company works with space agencies such as CNES, ESA, and NASA, offering retrieval tools and services that support both scientific research and environmental monitoring.

“Our goal is to make advanced aerosol and surface property retrievals available to the community — to bridge the gap between research and practical use,” he said.

He also emphasized the relevance of aerosol measurements in today’s context: “If we want to better understand climate change, air quality, or even develop effective environmental policies, aerosol monitoring is a key piece of the puzzle.”

The segment provided a concise overview of GRASP’s scientific origins, technical focus, and its positioning at the intersection of research and real-world applications.
