Monitoring the planet from Earth and Space
GRASP Spain
GRASP Spain SL, a subsidiary of the GRASP Earth Group, plays a key role in the Earth Observation value chain. We specialize in the development and optimization of the “GRASP” code (Generalized Retrieval of Atmosphere and Surface Properties), which is fundamental for remote sensing applications.
Our team combines expertise in physical and mathematical fundamentals with advanced engineering skills to scale and adapt the GRASP code to a wide range of applications. These include the retrieval of aerosol and surface properties from satellite sensors such as POLDER, MERIS, AATSR, OLCI/Sentinel-3, TROPOMI/Sentinel-5P, and Himawari, as well as the integration of synergies between sensors (e.g., MERIS+AATSR) and combined ground-satellite observations (e.g., AERONET+OLCI/Sentinel-3, AERONET+TROPOMI/Sentinel-5P).
Our contribution extends beyond software development. We actively participate in instrument development and satellite operations projects, integrating synergistic retrieval capabilities that leverage multiple satellite measurements. These advancements have been documented in scientific literature, including notable works by Lopatin et al. (2013, 2021) and Dubovik et al. (2021).
GRASP Spain collaborates closely with the GRASP Earth Group to drive innovative projects spanning software development to satellite operations, consolidating our position as a leader in remote sensing and Earth observation. These contributions have also earned national recognition, including the Innovative SME label and being featured in the notable APTE100, highlighting our commitment to excellence and innovation in the field.
